Elton John has insider information on the new ipad?

In an interview this morning with the BBC Elton John seems to have let spill the fact he has some knowledge about the iPad2.

During the interview he told the BBC that he would be purchasing a “Skype iPad” in April this year.   This suggests that he is expecting or indeed has knowledge that Apple will be releasing its new version of the iPad with a front facing camera, and perhaps even a rear-facing camera.

This seems to be a habbit as in an earlier interview with the Daily Telegraph he is reported to have said:

“I’m a Luddite. I don’t have a phone, I don’t have a computer, I don’t have an iPad and I don’t have an iPod. But this is going to be a problem for me because they’re coming out with a Skype iPad in April and I’ve got to get one because I want to see my son when I’m not there — I’ll have to enter the world of technology.”

So of Elton has inside information it seems we will seeing a new version of the beloved ipad with a camera very soon.

iPad 2 to be announced on 13th February?

There is much talk within the technology press about the possible imminent release of the iPad 2.

The Mobile World Congress starts on the 14th February and there is good money on Apple releasing news of its launch next Sunday. This coincides with what was previously reported in Macnotes that the iPad 2 would be released at the beginning of Q2.

It is also suggested that Apple’s latest iOS operating system will be demonstrated at the same time.

Apple customer nearly loses out on $10,000 i Tunes gift card

Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, nearly missed out on a $10,000 gift card from Apple before because she thought she was being harangued by a time-wasting prankster. Her daughter was the lucky Apple customer to have purchased the 10 billionth application from Apple's store with her purchase of the virtual paper airplane app "Paper Glider"
“I thought it was a prank call,” said Davis. "I said ‘Thank you very much, I’m not interested’ and I hung up.”
Having told the legitimate Apple representative to go away, Davis frantically tried to phone the company back, after her daughters told her the "prank" might have been genuine.

All was resolved when she got through and received her award.

Apple's 10 Million App Store Download

UK-based Gail Davis of Orpington became the winner of a $10,000 App Store gift card after she dowloaded the 10 billionth download from Apple's App Store at around 10:30 yesterday morning.

Davis downloaded an app called Paper Glider from a small UK-based iPhone app developer called Neon Play. Paper Glider is currently the most popular free iPhone app in the UK.

More than seven billion apps have been dowloaded in the last year alone, an astounding rate of growth given that it took Apple over 18 months to get to the one billion app milestone.

The App store was opened in July 2008 and has since been widely emulated by rivals such as Nokia, Google, Blackberry and Microsoft.

Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said in a press release that the App Store had surpassed Apple's wildest dream.

It is therefore not a surprise that the company has decided to extend the service to the Mac desktop environment through the recently launched Mac Store.
